Although it sounds unnecessary, a fire risk assessment is an important requirement for any business, small or large.
Thankfully large, destructive fires in the workplace are rare but the risk of a fire breaking out is much larger than you may think.
Old wiring, faulty or damaged wiring or poor electrical equipment - either supplied by yourself or provided by your staff - are the main reasons for fire in the workplace.
A fire risk assessment is a legal requirement as part of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order of 2005 which states that all non-domestic properties must have carried out a risk assessment.
